Going-away party / Abschiedsparty

This Tuesday was both a fun evening and a sad one. In a couple of weeks I will have to leave America and return to Good Ol' Europe. While I am looking forward to see my friends in Europe, it will also mean, that I will have to say goodbye to my new friends here in Tucson. The best way to do that was in having a going-away party. I invited 11 friends from the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association (TAAA), all of whom made a great impact on me in the last half year. I would have never thought, that all of them were coming, but they did! How amazing is that? Even more amazing is, that I made so many friends. Compare that with Switzerland. After 3 1/2 years there, I became friend with exactly one Swiss (the rest of my friends in Switzerland actually are not Swiss or only half Swiss).
We had a fun evening in a Greek restaurant with tasty food and I was overwhelmed with lots of presents, for example a Sweatshirt and an Observing Award. It is great to hear, that I was an inspiration and I would like to add, that my friends, you, made it possible by being open-hearted and giving me a chance. THANK YOU, MY DEAR FRIENDS!

Dieser Dienstag war ein lustiger und gleichzeitig trauriger Tag. In ein paar Wochen werde ich Amerika verlassen müssen um ins gute alte Europa zurückzukehren. Während ich mich schon darauf freue, meine Freunde in Europa wiederzusehen, bedeutet das gleichzeitig aber auch, daß ich meinen neuen Freunden hier in Tucson "Auf Wiedersehen" sagen muß. Die beste Art das zu machen ist mit einer Abschiedsfeier. Ich lud 11 Freunde der Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association (TAAA) ein, und jeder/jede von ihnen hat mich tief beeindruckt. Ich hätte nie gedacht, daß alle kommen würden, aber sie kamen alle! Wie toll ist das? Viel schöner noch ist es, daß ich so viele Freunde gewonnen habe. Man vergleiche das mit der Schweiz. In 3 1/2 Jahren dort habe ich mich genau mit einem schweizer befreundet (der Rest meiner Freunde in der Schweiz sind keine Schweizer oder nur halbe Schweizer).
Wir hatten einen spaßigen Abend in einem griechischen Restaurant mit leckerem Essen und ich wurde mit Geschenken überschüttet, zum Beispiel einem Sweatshirt und einer Beobachtungsauszeichnung. Es ist großartig zu hören, daß ich eine Inspiration war und ich möchte hinzufügen, daß meine Freunde, Ihr, das ermöglicht habt indem ihr offenherzig wart und mir eine Chance gegeben habt.
