Astronomical plans 2017 / Astronomische Pläne 2017

I am quite late this year with my astronomical plans. 5% of the year are already over. Of course, I again do have some plans and Stefan from the clearskyblog already asked to hand in plans for 2017.

So, here we go:

1. First and foremost: I want to observe more often. There is not a strict number of nights to set as a limit, it is a soft plan. I just have been missing observing in the past couple months and hope to be under the stars more often.
2. Teaching! Well, the last two years, there were not enough participants. I already handed in a suggestion for another course but so far there is only one person who subscribed. My spring course will most likely not take place. What a pity! I will try again in fall.
3. Another AL observing award. Let’s see which one I can gather.
4. Total eclipse in August. Well... I have been planning to observe this eclipse with my whole family in the states for half a decade. However, we are a little concerned about the political development in the USA, and furthermore the cost will be considerable. So, I give it a less-than-50% chance.
5. I already made some progress with the measurement of the angular distance between sun and half-moon. Given the weather will be OK, I will try to measure it (the tolerance of the measurements are ±1 minutes (of time)), making it a bit tricky.
6. I would like to have two articles get published, one of which in “Sterne und Weltraum” (the most renowned German-speaking astronomy magazine, the other one in the “VdS-Journal” (a German speaking amateur magazine).

So, let’s all hope for a positive new year and make the best out of it. Happy observing!

Sehr schade! Ich versuche es wieder im Herbst.
3. Ein weitere AL Beobachtungsaward. Mal sehen, welchen ich ergattern kann.
4. Die Totale Sonnenfinsternis im August. Nun...
