NGC 4889

Yes, it is true. I have been maintaining that blog for two years, already. While I claim myself to be an enthusiastic amateur astronomer, I have not uploaded a single sketch of one of my observations. This has to change, of course.
The following drawing shows an observation from March 26th. I am working on the Caldwell Catalog (beside others) and NGC 4889 is also known as Caldwell 35. It is located in the center of the Coma Cluster. With my 18" Dobsonian, there are plenty of galaxies visible in the field of view. In fact, there are almost as many galaxies as field stars.
Sky conditions were good but not perfect, I logged a faintest star of fst 6m4 in Virgo. My description read:
Thrilling field of galaxies, more than a dozen galaxies definitely seen, several more suspected, NGC 4889 is pretty bright, center is considerably brighter, slightly elongated in WNW-ESE.

Meine Beschreibung lautet:
Aufregendes Galaxienfeld, gut ein Dutzend Galaxien sicher gesehen, einige weitere vermutet, NGC 4889 ist recht hell, Zentralbereich deutlich heller, leicht in WNW-OSO elongiert

The sketches show NGC 4889 and the stunning field around it as observed with an 18" f/5 Newtonian reflector, magnification was 94x (with higher magnifications for fainter objects); fst 6m4 in Virgo, 26th of March, 2012, 3:00 Central European Summer Time (CEST)
