At Manfred´s Observatory / Zu Gast auf Manfreds Sternwarte

Not very far from my home, but already in neighboring Austria, Manfred Boehler built a nice observatory. He hosts several events each month - given that the weather permits observations. Usually, I do not attend those events since I prefer observing from the mountains, where the seeing conditions and darkness of the sky are better. However, around full moon there is no need for me to schlep 150 pounds of telescope onto the mountain.
It was the second time for me to visit Manfred and his nice observatory, which is in his backyard. He has all the conveniences that I dream of: Nice telescopes (12" reflector and several smaller scopes) that do not have to be set up, no driving, no carrying, automatic tracking - and all the advantages that a nearby house can offer, including a coffee machine.
This time, the bright moon was disturbing a lot, so we observed Saturn, the moon and some bright deep-sky objects. Manfred is kind enough to offer the observations to the public for free.

Nicht sehr weit von meinem zu Hause entfernt, aber schon im benachbarten Österreich, hat Manfred Böhler eine schöne Sternwarte errichtet. Er ist Gastgeber mehrerer Veranstaltungen jeden Monat - vorausgesetzt, das Wetter erlaubt Beobachtungen. Üblicherweise nehme ich an diesen Veranstaltungen nicht teil, da ich es vorziehe, von den Bergen aus zu beobachten, wo die Seeingbedingungen und die Dunkelheit des Himmels besser sind. Wie dem auch sei, um Vollmond herum macht es keinen Sinn, 80 kg Teleskop auf einen Berg zu schleppen.
Es war das zweite Mal, daß ich Manfred und seine hübsche Gartensternwarte besucht habe. Er hat all die Annehmlichkeiten, von denen ich nur träumen kann: Nettes Teleskop (12" Reflektor und mehrere kleinere Teleskope), daß nicht aufgestellt werden muß, keine Fahrerei, kein Tragen, Nachführung - und all die Vorteile die ein nahegelegenes Haus anzubieten hat, inklusive Kaffeemaschine.
Diesmal störte der helle Mond sehr, daher beobachteten wir Saturn, den Mond und ein paar helle Deep-Sky-Objekte. Manfred ist so nett und bietet die Beobachtungen der Öffentlichkeit kostenfrei an.
