Jeeha, I finally made it. After 25 hrs of travelling I arrived in Tucson, AZ. Before boarding onto the second flight which took me from Atlanta, GA, to Tucson, I had to went through several security checks. A person right in front of me mentioned that Atlanta and one other airport in the USA are the only ones where you have to grab your luggage, get through the security and afterwards directly recheck your luggage.
But before doing this, I had a "personal" talk to an officer. Why are you here? How long do you intend to stay? All the questions I have been asked before at the US embassy in Bern. Well, finally there were the relieving words: "Welcome to America - enjoy your stay."
Now I try to enjoy the heat of Arizona. It´s a beautiful place to stay and I´m really looking forward to observing the Arizona night sky.

Jippie, ich hab´s geschafft. Nach 25 Stunden Anreise bin ich schlußendlich in Tucson, Arizona, angekommen. Bevor ich jedoch das zweite Flugzeug besteigen konnte, welches mich von Atlanta, Georgia, nach Tucson bringen sollte, musste ich durch mehrere Sicherheitskontrollen. Jemand vor mir hat angemerkt, dass Atlanta und nur ein weiterer Flughafen in den Vereinigten Staaten die einzigen beiden sind, in denen man sein Gepäck auschecken, durch die Sicherheitskontrollen durchgehen und anschließend direkt wieder aufgeben muß.
Bevor ich das machen konnte, hatte ich aber noch ein "persönliches" Gespräch mit einem Grenzbeamten. Warum sind Sie hier? Wie lange planen Sie zu bleiben? Alles Fragen, die ich schon in der Amerikanischen Botschaft in Bern beantworten musste. Nun, schließlich fielen die erlösenden Worte: "Willkommen in Amerika - genießen Sie Ihren Aufenthalt."
Nun versuche ich wirklich, die Hitze Arizonas zu genießen. Es ist ein nettes Plätzchen hier und ich freue mich schon riesig darauf, den Nachthimmel Arizonas auszuforschen.
